'He gave my son his absolute all … a one in a million teacher'
Meet our fantastic teachers

Mr Carman
Mr Carman is one of the UK's leading geography and politics teachers. His teaching method is simple - it includes:

1. Knowing what is required for the top grades. Having taught for three years at the UK’s top school and authored GCSE and A level textbooks, he knows what works and what doesn’t.

2. Making sure students understand concepts in depth. He teaches efficiently, but makes sure pupils don't fall behind: this is why his students get two grades higher than the national average.

3. Explicitly teaching exam technique using his own A* grade resources, making sure students feel confident in attaining top marks in exam answers.
Mr Carman was educated at Alleyn's School, achieving A*s in both English and Geography A level. He then studied English and Geography at Durham University, achieving first-class honours in all 18 modules of study. While at Durham, he was awarded the vice-chancellor's scholarship - the highest academic award at undergraduate level - based upon impressive exam results.

He has also worked as a GCSE examiner. He was nominated for a Transforming Lives Award (held across the 60 Harris Academy Schools in London) based upon “rigorous lesson planning and positivity”. The nomination read: “Mr Carman really cares. He cares first and foremost about the students and is meticulous in his planning to ensure his students progress.”
